Based on extensive insider interviews and participation, acclaimed author Ben Mezrich's Straight Flush tells the captivating rags-to-riches tale of a group of University of Montana frat brothers who turned a weekly poker game in the basement of a local dive bar into AbsolutePoker. But then the U. Department of Justice placed a bull's-eye on Absolute Poker. Did they fold - or double down and ride their hot hand?

His pleasing voice and facility with dialogue are enormously enjoyable Damron's superb performance adds to the excitement and makes this captivating listening. Two of the story's iconic characters are Harvard students Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss: identical twins, Olympic rowers, and foils to Mark Zuckerberg.

They all read like movies and have great characters. While I like this book also, it really has no story arc. Not very much happens. It feels like it needs a second and third act. This seemed like an attempt portray the Winklevoss brothers as interesting, sympathetic protagonists but unfortunately it fell flat. The writing was good, but ultimately the story just isn't that interesting.

The Winklevoss twins have said bitcoin is the

Basic synopsis: rich guys use some of the money they had from suing Mark Zuckerberg to invest in Bitcoin, now their investment is worth over a billion dollars. Along the way they partner with someone they ultimately end up suing as well Additionally, there are seemingly endless cringe worthy references to "The Movie" I enjoyed the vindication so to speak of the twins. Do not buy this if you expect to learn more about Bitcoin or its origin story.

The first five hours are almost exclusively focused on the Winkelvoss twins, their family and a corrective account of the Facebook saga. This is very unfortunate, as the author is actually a really good writer. It was a story too slow and without a punch. The extreme bias towards the twins was very apparent and hurts the validity of the story. It really helps you to know more about how Bitcoin started and who was involved in the process including the difficulties and accusations.

Great book that was very entertaining. A worthwhile read of the early days of Bitcoin. Solid read by Damron. The ego it must have taken to write such a self aggrandizing puff piece and self congratulatory fable, is staggering. I once thought that the Winklevoss twins must have gotten a raw deal somewhere along the way but this book has solidified just how narcissistic and callous these guys are.

The story had a shred of redeemable entertainment value but the level of self back patting and revisionist history in the narrative is nauseating. Loved it, couldn't stop listening! A new Winks fan. A priceless token of honor to be rejected by the cult, respect guys.

Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss parlayed the millions they earned after settling their Facebook lawsuit into cryptocurrencies and became the first billionaires from a late surge in Bitcoin prices. The longer this ordeal dragged on, the more likely it was that sooner or later he'd show up to the next endless session wearing his Olympic rowing jacket.

Loved how it demonstrated, through actual experiences, how the religious-order-tech-cult is thoroughly dishonorable, deceitful, and dangerous to civilization. You will know the zealots of this evil order by the ridiculous buzzwords these fools repetitively use Add to Cart failed. Please try again later. Add to Wish List failed. Remove from wishlist failed. We are sorry. A derivative is a financial contract whose value is based on the performance of an agreed-upon underlying asset—in this case, cryptocurrency. It was an idea that would require serious technological chops—not only to build, but to persuade a deeply skeptical crypto community that Hayes had solved for the security and accounting lapses that had plagued earlier exchanges.

In January , Hayes arranged a meeting at a swanky rooftop watering hole with Ben Delo, a brainy British mathematician and programmer whose classmates at Oxford reportedly voted him the most likely to become a millionaire—and the second most likely to wind up in prison. When Hayes and Delo got together, little about them suggested they would storm the ramparts. On paper both had establishment C. Yet each was an outlier. At Oxford, where he double majored in math and computer science, he earned what the Brits call a double first, graduating with a perfect GPA in both subjects.

When Hayes pitched Reed on his idea for a Bitcoin-derivatives exchange, Reed, disregarding his own advice, signed on immediately. The youngest of three boys, Reed had grown up in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
